Need help need to get to school in morning!
Heres the deal. I take my car to go get air in the tires. It is running beautiful. I pull out and punch it and it feels like a 3 cylinder, jsut slowly climing the rpm range. It does it in every gear ( i have an aod). My gas pedal has no spring to it. What is the problem, and how can I fix it? I need to get to school in the morning. Thanks.

Is the engine running fine, and just don't make any rpms? Or is it running terriable?
|
Running fine and dosent make any rpms, but in netural i can make all the rpms i want.

leave real early in the morning.
well first check the simple stuff like throtle cable conection at the throttle bodie somthing may be amiss the pedal retuns with a spring fron there. check to see if there are any codes. air filter restrictions ect. but manually check to see that the throttle bodie is openning and that get ride of the first thing second thing. what does a 3 cylinder feel like ???? good luck we have a car standed untill i can get it towed home. |
I just reset my computer and took her out for a spin. It feels fine until i push down more than 3/4 the way on the pedal. I hope it's not my mass air im broke.

If your TV grommet fell out and you are broke, your hurting, because youll be needing your AOD overhauled.
|
It does sound like your TV cable disconnected. Hopefully you didn't drive too far with it that way or you'll be cooking the AOD. And like Mach 1 said, "youll be needing your AOD overhauled."

The two plastic pieces that hold my throttle tension cable to the throttle body broke, and my throttle tension cable was just dangling. I hooked it back up to the throttle body and took it for a ride. She ran like a dream. I had all of the tension back in my pedal. I guess with 11 years of driving a stang (come on, we all know we floor it every so often, or maybe more :D ) the pieces broke. My dad got the replacement part from Ford for me this morning. I got ripped I think ($8). Thanks for everyones help. And no, I didnt drive it far, i babied it home about a half a block. And how would that effect my transmission, when i hooked the cable back up to the throttle body, the transmission shifted like a dream. Thanks for everyones help.

theres three cables there, throttle, cruise control, and transmission. If the trannsmission cable becomes disconnected for any reason, your AOD will burn up because your transmission cable (AKA TV cable) is there to increase pressure in your transmission as engine speed increases. without the increased pressure, your clutches will burn up extremely fast. Sounds like your TV cable stay connected the whole time. Consider yourself lucky.

Ya, i guess I will consider myself lucky. I just installed the new rubber holder on the throttle cable and took it for a ride. I acutally feel like the pedal is stiffer and that the car pulls a little harder throughout the rpm range. Guess the holder was loose. Guess I should have changed it when I bought the car. Thanks again everyone.:D
