smoke out the breather valve!!
 

Does it mean that the rings are shot if there is smoke coming out from around the breather valve?
It started doing this on my '82. Should I start planning on a rebuild for the winter? It's coming from the left breather valve and left tailpipe. I'm thinking it's the rings.

First off, anything coming out of one valve cover should be coming out of the other as well. if it's not, I would suspect an unusually hot spot on that head, or a problem with the oil delivery in one or more pushrods on that side.

Yeah, you're right. It's also out the other valve cover as well. I just noticed it.
