Extended Warranty
 

I will be up for warranty renewal just after the turn of the year. I know this might be a little premature but I'm wondering what you all think about this? Opinions on wether to or not to do this would be apreciated. Thanks

If you plan on modding your car, you might as well throw the warranty out the window...many of them are viod after you so much as look under the hood. It's up to you...if you're not planning on building it up, go for the warranty.

That's not necessarily true, I am still under the factory warranty on my car, and I've done a lot of mods (click on the "My Mods" link below to see the one's i've done without voiding warranty). All my mods accept for the offroad h-pipe, which i take off when i brought my car into the dealer, were on when i had my engine replaced under warranty, and they approved my car. Just make sure that if you talk to the dealer u don't mention any mods they won't normally know about (gears, etc.) or any racing you've done w/ the car.

I think the warranty's a good idea, it got me a $3000-5000 engine replacement done for $50.

According to the Magnuson Act (spelled wrong but it is named for a Senator from Washington) unless the aftermarket part is directly responsible for the failure of the part the dealership must honor the warranty. The application of the Act also depends on the dealership and rumor has it that Ford is telling dealers to play hardball. You may have to shop dealerships a bit.

There are dealers that install after market mods including superchargers...deal with one of these you will have less problems. As ahas been said ,as long as the mod does not adversely affect the parts under warranty , the dealer is supposed to honor same. I recently had starter and speedo gear proplems....paid my $50.00 and it was fixed..:D

But I'm thinking about throwing on an SQ-Trim Vortech with a fabricated power pipe and a Lightning MAF. I agree that an after market part must be directly responsible, however I feel that something as intense as a supercharger could fuel their arguement. Point is; is it really worth the money and if so any idea what it costs?

I have an extended warranty and I am interested in adding a Vortech SC as well. I am leaning towards the Steeda set-up since they have the Technology transfer program with Ford. Since I have to take my GT into the shop today (started leaking red fluid from bottom of car) I will ask if it makes a difference.

As far as it being worth the money. I think if you want to dramatically increase the SC is worth it--much better than adding all the usual bolt-ons and you will spend almost as much $$

If they tell me no then I will get a refund on my warranty and put the money towards the SC!!! :D
