Cop dead. Family dead.

I flipped to the local 10 o'clock news and hear the following two stories:

1. Orange County Sherrif, 16 year veteran dead from major head trauma. Was in a motorcycle accident (on duty) a 16 year old girl pulled out and hit him, sending him 20 through the air. This was .5 miles from my mom's house, on a stretch of road I used to ride every day on my motorcycle. Could have just as easily been me.

2. Family from San Clemente (my town) died on the 405 when their car hit a concrete pillar up in LA. Both parents and two kids under the age of 3 all died at the scene, all wearing seatbelts/in the car seats.

I think I'm done watching the news for a while.

that is sad, but true all the news is good for anymore is doom & destruction, they never show the good thing's going on. :)

there was a group of people (either family or friends) that drove off I-75 into a cement pillar that holds up a bridge at full speed....seems people are forgetting how to drive on the highways...this happens mcuh too often....

I think it's always happened. Just didn't used to be front page or headline news. It is always a trajedy though.

Rev's right. In my social problems class my teacher was going over how last year there were all these stories about shark attacks even though the number wasn't any higher than any other year. High profile crimes like murder have actually been declining over the years but the news has been reporting it more and more. Same with child abductions. It gives us the impression that things are getting worse even though they've been improving every year.

A few weeks ago I was in Melbourne visiting my Grandparents and two kids were street racing somewhere in Cocoa Beach and ended up colliding with each other, two kids in one of the cars were killed. But that isnt the worst part. It turns out that one of the cars was carrying a full keg of beer, which was ejected during the accident, and ended up hitting a car driven by a woman, causing her to crash, also killing her. Why do people have to be so stupid! Just thought I would share that with you guys. - John
