Difference between EECIV and EECV

I was looking to put a 351w into my '96 cougar, and I have a EEC-V, will it be able to handle the engine? If not, what kind of computer would I need?

The cougar, is just like a mustang, I have the 3.8 L version...

Thanks guys

The EEC-IV computer should be able to run a 351. But I don't know what differences there are between the 8 cylinder and the 6 cylinder. I don't think they are compatable.

The 5.0L EEC-IV would workwith the 351W

CougarNut,

I thought you told me you had the EEC-V Processor, not the EEC-IV?? The EEC-V would make more sense since you have a newer car than the 87-93 Mustang which came with the EEC-IV version.
