Are longtubes worth it??????

Just wondering if spending 400 bucks on a set of longtubes and H-PIPE is really going to give me anymore HP than I already have? If not, ill just keep my shortys.:D

Long Tube headers generate more horsepower and torque, throughout the power range. If your shortys and h-pipe are in good shape you might want to do other mods with the $400. If you're h-pipe needs to be replaced anyway - I would suggest long-tubes. But the install of longtubes is a little tricky and time consuming. We decided to go with long-tubes on our stang - the sound is great with the added hp!

do you have equal or unequal length shortys? Either way, I would probably still look into doing it even though you car already is making good power @109mph. I put a set on mine about 2 months ago and they helped alot, but mostly on the top end; the shortys definitely had better low end on my car. I was lacking top end, so I was pleased and am still glad I did it. It is a really noticeable change. Good luck

I run Bassani long tubes... but wanted to play devil's advocate and remind everyone that the NMRA Real Street guys are producing some great #'s (10's @ 130) with 1 3/4" unequal shorties and a stock cam on a single power adder... ;)

oh, speaking of power adders, I'd put that money towards a nitrous kit (NX 50-150 single nozzle) and put down some 11sec. ET's ...just a suggestion. :D

I have BBK 1 3/4 long tubes on my car and going from a 1 5/8 equal length shortie they made a hell of a difference especially above 3500 rpm. I think they are worth every penny.

longtubes are excellent, and you dont have to spend 400 dollars. Flowtech offers a longtube/h pipe (OR) combo for like 207 or something from summit. Just be sure and strip the paint before you put the headers on your car

yes, but they are very poor quality. they are made with 18 guage tubing and 1/4" flanges. they wont last you a long time. get the right ones now....

take care,
adam

I seen Longtubes Dynoed on a blown engine and they gained 20 hp and 21 torque when the headers were added. At least that is what it said on the Dyno sheet. Not sure how much on a N/A engine.

I have some equal length shorties and there awesome but the install is a pain in the *** I dont see how longtubes could be any harder to install but the shorties do let you keep alotta low end power which is what I like , just my .02
