Intake gaskets
I'll make this real quick.........What intake gaskets should be used with an extrude honed cobra intake? Can I use a standard Fel-pro set and port match it?
Thanks Brent |
Fel-Pro 1262's should probably work. You may have to trim them a bit, but they should be in the ballpark. Depends how much the Extrude Hone process widened the ports.

1262's are nice gaskets but have no provision for an exhaust crossover. I like 1250's which have the crossover provision but are not very large. They did fit my TFS TW heads before I ported them.
If you still have your old gaskets and if you still have the exhaust crossover shields, keep these. I cut an opening in my 1262's for this graphite heat shield. It works great. I am going to try the real thick felpro gasket for racing. It is .09 thick without the blue silicone around the ports. I am not sure l like these since I have sucked a bunch of these over the last 3 years. Let me know what you end up with. |

I have Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads #6025 w/ 2.02/1.60 valves. Do you know if FelPro ever sold the 1262 & 1250 intake gaskets together in the same package? I know I should have used the #1250 gasket, but think I may have put the wrong one on. The reason I ask is when I replaced my lower intake gasket due to a water leak in the rear of the lower manifold, I don't think I put the correct gasket on. Ever since I fixed the water leak I have excessive blow-by. I never had even a hint of blow-by before this manifold gasket change. At first it blew out the cheap cork valve cover gaskets, then I got better ones with the metal wire in the middle. The excess pressure then escaped through the breather on my oil filler tube. Oil spits out when the engine is at full throttle. The car still runs strong, even turned the same quarter mile times before and after this blow-by problem. Is it possible that the gaskets I put on did not have this crossover shield, therefore resulting in my excessive crankcase pressure? I'm going to rip the upper & lower manifolds off sometime over the next week or two, and hopefully will be able to see what the problem is once I take the manifold off. I was just hoping someone could confirm this for me?? |
1262s are big..most aftermarket head companies use 1250's..i think i still ran stock on my gt-40intake..just openend em up a lil

I've got Edelbrock alum performer heads and TFS track heat intake, and the fel-pro 1250's fit perfectly.

Thanks, but what about the exhaust crossover shields? Could installing the wrong lower manifold gaskets (w/out the crossover shields) cause excessive crank case pressure in any way? I hope that's it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed... Anyone else??

1262's fit perfect for mine due to the port match on my TFS TW's :D
