Making a t-top or targa
I'm a newbie to this board and was wondering if anyone on here knows of anyone has made a t-top or targa out of there newer Mustang? specifically 2000 and up? If so where would I find a tech manual or something along the lines to make it?
|
I asked the same question several months ago about my 98 b4 I sold it... I dont' think it would be a good idea. The people doing it would have only 1 chance to do it right. IF you are to let someone turn your car into T or Targa, make sure they will fix anything they screw up.

Thats fine I have seen it done to a Z28 and was wanting to do it to a mustang so is there anywhere to get information on this?

I can understand the Z/SS conversion, as they made the Z/SS in both T and Hardtops. All you would need to do is get someone with bodyworks skills to copy a T-Top model and then buy all the components from GM/Chevy.. The mustangs in question never came in T-Tops, so you can't just go down to Ford and buy all the parts, someone will have to make them, unless you get someone to mold in T-Tops from a different car that has a similar design. Anyways, to answer your question, I never could find anyone that would/could do it. Sorry.
you may want to see if Camaro or other Tops would fit in the space and then talk to a local body/custom shop and see if they will do the conversion... prob won't be cheap though.. |
I don't know that the roof would be stong enough to hold itself up with a conversion like that. The f-bodies were originally designed to have a big hole cut out of them, its part of the reason the B-pillar is so large.
Might be why nobody does it. |
Well the older mustangs that I have seen do have T-tops these are like 87 and older style so i dunno?????
