8 cylinder into a 6 cylinder engine bay....?
hi everyone, i am new here, and i dont have a Mustang, i have a Mitsubishi Eclipse GST with not much done to it.....i have around 250 horsepower, and to give u an idea of its speed, in the quarter mile i can beat a stock 5.0 by like 2 cars......14.2@ 103mph
but the reason im here is becuase my friend has a 6 cylinder mustang, and is looking to buy an 8 cylinder for it, probably the 94 cobra engine......my question is, how much work is involved in doing this? He has a a 1994. Feel free to ask me any questions about what we plan to do, but i am not sure of anything yet..... |
If he is doing a 6-8 swap with a '94, that would be a question for the Windsor power board. The 5.0 (stock for that year) is in the Windsor family.
Having said that, it is a straightforward drop. You will need to change the clutch cable (on a stick) motor mounts, and I think computer. A complete 8 and radiator should not have any issues. Until you really get on it. The rear and trans are different in a 6. You would want to get a heavy duty t-5 (or better) and a locking 8.8. I think that's it. Might acutally be easier to find a nice GT to begin with, unless his 6 is a special car to him. |
