come on guys, someone has got to know something about my tranny!!!
hey there. im trying to get a 460 stroker wedged into a 91 lx mustang. i have a c6 tranny that bolts up to a 460 block. im trying to put this thing in my stang. this tranny has a flat flange that you bolt the driveshaft up to. i think its from a truck. my questions are these: do i have to change the output shaft if i change the tailshaft to accept the splined driveshaft yoke that i need for my stang? did ford make a c6 that is compatible with a 91 mustangs speedo cable, and what do i need to do to get my cable hooked up to my tranny? should i even try to use this tranny, or should i find one from a 460 car? pleeeeaaaase help me! i need all the info i can get here!!!!! thanks! |
You need to get a different output shaft cover, I had this same problem when I was putting a c-6 in my 65 Ford truck, because the factory driveshaft was a two piece unit with the carrier bearing, so I had to change from the flat flange type to the spline type, so I could run a one piece drive shaft. As far as the speedo cable goes, all you should need is a speedo gear for a c-6 tranny, and it should bolt up to your factory speedo cable, if not, you'll need to get a different cable for that transmission, hope this helps you,
