GT-40 vs. Trickflow Track Heat
I have been running a GT-40 upper and lower since 97, but since I've built this 347 stroker with trickflow track heat heads, i was wondering if I should go with a trickflow track heat upper and lower, does anyone know which one is better? and is it worth changing over to one? thanks in advance, Kenny

All the research that I have done has the Trick Flow Track Heat flowing better than the GT40. I think it is a better intake and matched better to the TF Heads.
But that is just what I've found, no personally experience. |
as much as i love the gt-40 i wouldnt put it on anything bigger than a 302/306 if you wanted to make some real power..if you want a tourque monster then go for it but i would suggest a larger intake such as a performer rpm/track heat/holly for stock rpm style power..

I agree with the guys above.
I've got a GT-40 on my 331, and it works fine. Although, there probably is more power to be found if I switched to the TF intake. E |
I'm not profescinal... => But doesn't the gt-40 make the most torque out of all those manifolds???? I guess it depends on what you want more torque or hp.... bTW how does the explorer intake match up with the TFS Street, Edelbrock performer ???

your right rookie..your no professional..jk:D
yes you are correct it makes the most tourque on a 302..it would also make them most tourque on the 347 but sacrafice too much power up top..not enuff down low to make up for it thats why i suggest the other intakes withc are still rather tame for a 347.. |
Go the Trick Flow upper and lower. USE THE 90 MM unit that they just released. This will get you up to 500 hp on your stroker.
Did you use the street heat heads? I have my Twisted Wedge heads ported to the felpro 1262 gasket size. That makes my port just 1/4 inch shorter than a 428 CJ port. That was an awesome head. We ran 10's and 11's with those heads all through the 70's and 80's. Remeber that the basic problem with the ford efi units is that they starve the front cylinders for air. I hope someone finds a good solution to this problem, cause the Chevy crowd is makin great power and torque with their set up. Next time you have your heads off, replace the valve guides! My cast iron valve guides were destroyed by detonation. I had to replace all 16 valves, and am now using bronze guides. I understand that the new TF heads use bronze, which is good because they take detonation MUCH better. ROCK ON |
