Edelbrock Head Install Questions

I have decided to put Edelbrock 6037's on my 91GT, they are supposed to be an easy bolt on, is this true??? I have purchased ARP head bolts for them and the head bolt bushings they recommend. Aside from this is there anything else I need, and how many extra HP can I expect. The car is stock except for 1 5/8" MACS, pulleys, and H-pipe.

you might as well do a cam, and have the heads worked on a bit.
At least port the exhaust.
You actually don't need the bushings but it's a safe way to go.
w/ mild port job, and cam.... i would expect about 80 true hp.
w/ the whole induction swap (TB, Meter, intake) you could get 100+

NOS_Hatch..how do you not need the bushings..the 6037's are technically a 351 head..351 heads have 1/2" hole instead of the smaller 302's..the bushing makes up the space..how can you get away without them??

Don't the ARP bolts have a special shoulder so you don't have to use the bushings? I have those bolts. Mine go from 1/2 to 7/16 I believe.

When I put my 6032's on, I needed the bushing even with the ARP bolts I used. The bolts were a 7/16" standard head bolt set for a 302. Since the heads have a 1/2" hole, you'll definitely need to use the bushings.

ARP makes a bolt that'll do the job, but if you've got the bushings, why not use them?
I hope you're using a good head gasket too.

As for installing the heads, just remember to block the front smog holes with the supplied threaded inserts. As for the rocker arms, yours I think are pedestal mount so just follow the standard procedure for installing rocker arms (most chilton's books have this in them, but someone correct me if I'm wrong).

If you have the extra cash, why not get a cam and intake right away too. The stock stuff will only choke the potential of the heads.

It's been awhile since I put my Edelbrocks on but what I remember is that you can either use the bushing with a standard ARP bolt or there is an ARP bolt with the shoulder built into it. You need one or the other.
