Bali Flippers

I've been playing with my camera again... figured I'd share some pictures of my babies with anyone who appreciates the form and function of a balisong/butterfly knife... http://balisong.glx.net/images/bali-smile4.gif

I highly recommend that you purchase a Benchmade folder w/ the Axis lock mechanism... if you're looking for a very cool knife.

www.benchmade.com has most of their production knives at their site, they also have a forum ;)

I love a good kershaw blade. Damn good quality. Expensive as hell but worth it in my opinion. Always have at least one on me.

Back in the '80's

My sons had those back in the '80's when they were heavily into martial arts. I could never see much use for them personally. The ones they had were always of fairly poor quality and had crumby steel blades.

Kershaw is actually where it all started for me... after buying a couple of the Ken Onion Speed-Safe knives off the Snap-On truck, I began to collect them for quite simply the 'cool' factor of having a spring loaded pocket knife that didn't carry some taboo/legal issue along with it. Then I stumbled upon Benchmade Knife Co. and things got outta hand real quick once getting hooked up with an online dealer with stellar prices compared to the MSRP that I was paying at the local sporting goods store...

then the balisong knife caught my attention after ordering one for a friend of mine... I liked it, so naturally I soon got one for myself.

Then I ventured into the high-end bali market... and I'm nearly broke after my last purchase, so I will be taking a break :D

I have to save money to spend on the 'stang, afterall... 10's just aren't much fun anymore. Speed is a terrible addiction.... but so are balis!

Hope you guys enjoyed the pics! :)

I was just looking at the pics of the knives again as I was thinking of checkin out the latest benchmade had to offer and I noticed that several of them are double edged. It's been a while since I played around with a butterfly knife but wouldn't that kill your hand? If I remember right you always use the side without an edge to rebound off your hand when doing all the cool tricks to impress your friends with one. Just something I noticed.

ULTRAFLO, That's an awesome collection man!!! I like the BaliSong Smiley!

Here is one of mine, it's rainbow anodized and it's 083 out of 200 made.

...wouldn't that kill your hand?

I have a small scar on my index finger from laying myself open flipping the SS handled Kris blade (wavy dagger) when I first got it... It does have a small 'safe' area at the base of the blade. If you look closely at said blade, you'll notice the concave 'dip' in it, which is not sharpened... that side of the blade begins it's razor edge (no exaggerating, it's hollow ground) at about the middle of the convex 'bump.' In order to flip it without getting bit, you have to choke-up on the handle. I started to get comfortable and my hand slid down just enough to get stung!

The Spear point bali in the picture has a false edge from the factory... that can easily be sharpened with the right tools.

If you like carbon fiber, Benchmade offers some real nice stuff!

The 941D2CF 170/500 (top) is a special run BM just did that you might still be able to get-in on... the 31-02 06/50 (bottom) might also still be available, but the 31-0x series is kinda pricey for an EDC (every day carry)... the benchmade site is the place to check for the latest offerings, and the forum is the place to ask about them ;)

FivePointOhh ...is that a Pacific Cutlery era balisong? How long have you had that? Very nice!! :) That could very well be worth more than you paid for it! ...worth checking into, btw ;)

UltraFlo,

Nope, it's a Benchmade (stamped on blade). I bought it 10+ years ago. Thanks for the extra info.
