302 vs 306

At one time i was going to get a brand new block and bore it to a 306. Anyways I was reading an article by a guy who said that a 306 will not produce any more power then a 302 and that actually the weight of a bigger piston needed will make it have even less. This sorta goes against what i was thinking...

Is this true? It made me think would it have been worth boring the new block? And now that i have a used block (much cheaper) should i not bore it all the way to a 306?

I do not think that the difference between a 302 and a 306 is going to make any noticable difference. I definately would not bore out a new block that is in good shape. I don't belive that heavier pistons would affect power much but may put more stress on the rotating assymbly. I think the brand of piston would make a bigger weight difference then the .030" overbore would make. But this is just my opinion of the matter.
