equal or unequal
Thanks for all the info in advance!
Equal or unequal????? I am currently running the unequals, I have a chance to get equals set for free, should I make the swap? There for the coupe. |
I would stay with the unequals. If you are gonna change headers you might as well go with long tubes. But then again you are getting the equals for free. Cant beat that. You might see a little more out of the equals but not much.
you will see a little more with the equals and they sound a little more aggressive if your getting them for free swap'em out.
cant beat that for free but I have some and they were a pain to install but sounds nice.
Really? think I'll have to raise the motor to get them in?

If the are free, take them. Then sell those piece of junk equals!! If you want more out a header go longtubes. I don't think its worth the hassle of installation for the little amount of gain you will get (on a modified motor). If the motor is fairly stock then its not worth it at all.
Whats a little sweat for some extra ponies. I say throw them on and sell the unequals. It's really not that hard.
get them, sell them, and buy yourself some nice longtubes. equal length shorties are too much of a hassle. ever change pulgs with them? you dont want to....
take care, adam |
I agree, especially since I am so close to the 11's. the 12.3 run was before the bumper and brackets were removed, before the power steering pump and lines were removed and before the battery was moved to the trunk. With the new weight distribution, headers, and less air in the drag radials I hope I can hit it.
OOps, forgot to say who I agreed with, it was impulsracer, because I am on a very very limited budget and don't have the money for the rest of the exhaust to fit the long tubes. However I do have the off road H-pipe on now, when I swap headers do you think I should go with the off road X-pipe? remember I am just looking for a couple tenths. I have the X pipe in the garage waiting for a home. I was told that the x-pipe is more power on top end and the h-pipe was more for low end....
Another option is like avbcon said. Take them sell both shorties ($150-$200) Add a hundred and get yourself a set of BBK longtubes from summite (like $269??) You can pick up an offroad pipe for it used for $50-$75 That'll definetly help you top end. One more option is keep the exhaust you have, have two cut-outs ($40 each) welded in your h-pipe. You now have open full lengths at the track and full exhaust for the ride home.
Wouldn't running open exhaust with the cutouts kill torque and low end tremendously?
So what does everyone think now, equals with H or X? |
Yea it will lower your torque but it will also raise your top end horse. If you're running 12.30's now You will gain power and et with open headers (Not shorties)
Heh, Free is good. Put them on, your only out some of your time.
do not think you will go faster with no exhuats..302's love back pressure..you willl not gain the beni's of no exhaust inless you are forced induction or are running bigcubes, or high rpms..why loose all that tourque and have the same shift point?
and if you do put on the equals get ready to burn wires up like what..id sell em and get longtubes.. |
