need help with 1.7 cobra rockers?
These are advertised pretty cheap 149-179$, will they fit on my stock stang? are they pedestal mount? if so will i see a gain, im looking for a tenth or at least 2 mph, this will be after i ditch my stock h-pipe for a o-r mac pipe.
thnx.. ------------------ 90 lx coupe: Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, advncd ignition,3-core radiatr, FMS alum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs, 3chbr flows. Best time: 13.9116(on 225/60/15 firehawks) Best mph: 98.17 Best 60': 1.9607 next mods: subframes, mac h-pipe |
not sure about the improvements with the rockers cause i havent tested mine yet but i've heard between 1-2 tenths, but it will be even better with an h-pipe too, why dont you use that money to put some gears in that thing, 3.73's will easily give you 2 tenths, looks like traction isnt much of a problem if you can hit a 1.9 60' on 225's, i wish i could do that

The 1.9 i did when my car gave a slight bog, and it was fun ford shootout, in which they spray the track with vht, they do at every shootout, regarless i do consistent 2.00's no swaybar, but as for the 3.73's a friend of mine actually slowed down with 3.73's i dont know why? but im sure traction will become a problem when i do change grs thinking 4.10's now. thnx for the info...

I'm not sure if the Cobra 1.7s fit under stock valve covers but my Crane 1.7s do - that's why I chose them. Also they were pedestal mount.

cobra rockers are the same as the cranes.. doubt you'd pick up .2 though.. pulleys would be a better choice to knock time off.. even just the water pump and crank ones..

You might gain some top end but the roller rockers have it all over the stockers. They are also much cheaper than any 1.6 roller.
I had to go through three sets of Cranes before I found a good set of pedistals and even then I had to buy the replacement set for another $15. The pedistals I got with all my rockers were machined crooked so the tip didn't set square on the valve tip. |
jimberg, his car was (stock)motor, and 273's, the 373s took him to 15.2 from 14.8, but maybe he just wasnt used to them.
he eventually put a cam and a holley intake on, and went to 13.6 in a lx hatch, the grs worked much better with some more topend power i guess. Yea its funny that guy mention the pullies, my friend just told me today he has a water pump and crank pulley laying around he will give me, and i agree i will probaly see a bigger gain from these instead of the rockers....thnx ------------------ 90 lx coupe: Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, advncd ignition,3-core radiatr, FMS alum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs, 3chbr flows.
