Get a flexible magnet and try to retrive it....

mustangman65_79 10-11-2002 02:17 AM

As much as i hate to say it, U can run with it in there, it's not good, and i don't recomend it, but u can. I ran, and still am running with a oil pump shaft in mine, but thats a lot smaller.

Magnet

Maroon 5.0 LX is right. A flexible magnet should fish it out. Worst case, I would remove the pan, get the wrench, and put in a windage tray and crank scraper while you're in there. Use a one piece gasket when you reinstall the pan.

Get it out. If you have trouble with a flexible magnet, get a strong magnet (one from a blown speaker works well) and put it against the pan (outside) where the wrench is. By moving the magnet up and forward, you should pull the wrench with it, until you can see it and grab it with a pair of long needlenose pliers.

Take care,
~Chris

wrench

we decided to leave it in

PKRWUD 10-12-2002 01:28 PM

I think that's a bad idea, but it's your engine. At the very least, you should get a magnet like I described above and stick it to the bottom of the oil pan. That will help to hold the wrench in place, and decrease the odds of it getting swept up into the crank.

Take care,
~Chris

o you mean keep the magnet atacheed to the bottom of the oil pan on the outside
i thought u meant to take evrything off and then do it
but ill go ahead and try leaviong it on the outside of the pan
thx

PKRWUD 10-12-2002 01:39 PM

No, I meant on the outside. The magnet off of a bad speaker works really well because it's strong, but thin, so it holds, and isn't likely to get knocked off.

Take care,
~Chris

o ok

alright i c what u mean
thx

mustangman65_79 10-13-2002 02:16 AM

I hate when that happends, because usally u have to remove the motor to get the oil pan off.

ponyexpress289 10-14-2002 07:44 AM

yea

yea we were going to take it off but there is a bar right under it so we left it in

Rev 10-14-2002 08:04 PM

Crossmember bar

It's easy to take that crossmember bar off on the '66 and then just remove the pan. Not a big deal at all.

well

well it took us 5 days to take apart and put back together the motor for the cam
then we decided to leave it in cause we were tired of messing with it i dont know if i saw just 2 bolts but
we were damn tired

tireburner163 10-15-2002 10:35 AM

Dude just get it out. Your gonna feel like *** if I gets swept into the crank and screws the whole motor over
