Headrest Removal ??????

How do the headrests come off (86 GT), I need to get the seat covers off so I can fix my broke-a*s seat (Right now I have the back seat folded down to support the drivers seat). Any info?
I saw the tool for sale when I looked it up under a search, but can I use anything else(screwdriver/sawzall)?

I don't know anything about the price or effort that goes int fixing a broken seat. Mine had the same problem, and now I have a cloth drivers seat out of an 88 gt and the original leather passenger seat that came with the car. Seat covers, a beautiful thing!!! But since you are trying to sell it, look in a pick a part for a stang with windows and yank the seat.

I ended up getting them out . The long metal bracket that slides in the seat, there's a groove on the front side at the bottom, so I took an old thin sawblade and ground off the teeth, then worked it down into the front of the seat and pulled it out. The seat frame was cracked in a few spots and some of the tack weld where two pieces of metal overlapped were broken. I just drilled and put a bunch of bolts through everything, good as new (it still flexes slightly on the right side but at least it works now).
