what do you think of these rides?
no flaming please...............just let me know if you like and or respect and a civil, intelligent explanation why:
http://www.clubsi.com/featured/siins...sifront_tn.jpg features a skunk2 racing suspension and an integra type r engine.......a dyno-proven 205 whp and 137 ft-lbs........a track-proven 13.47 @ 103 mph and if you don' like hatchbacks: http://www.clubsi.com/featured/sirac...er_side_tn.jpg features a Vortech supercharger and built internals.......over 330 whp and 215 ft-lbs.......consistent low 13's on street tires, mid-12's on 22" slicks |
personally, i think both are sweet..........
not the most practical builds, but the hobby (import or domestic) itself isn't terribly practical...........this isn't about practicality |
i like the Blue one. i have always liked how the SI's looked. Im not a particular fan of the hatchbacks.
Just wait until all the people come here calling them rice  They are both very tastefully done. :) Later, Nick |
Personaly, I think the blue si is a little sharper looking. It is not decked out with stupid sh**, but neith3r is the black hatch, I have nothing against tastefully modifed and customized cars of any kind. Correct me if I'm wrong, but at over 330 rwhp, in a car as light as a si on slicks, shouldn't it be running alot faster than mid 12's? That is still a good time, but for the money invested and the amount of power, I would expect better times.

Weight?
I guess my question is with 205 FWHP and only 137 lb/ft of torque and a 1/4 mile of 13.47/103, what is the race weight of that car? No flames, but it must be gutted.

personally i don't like either, not much of a honda fan. but i think the black on isn't too bad, clean looking. sounds like the guy/gal has put a bit of time into thier ride, so right on to them.

i agree 100%, big red.........and the owner seems to as well......
it exceeds traction limits.......i've met guys with si coupe's that weigh the same and put down about 100 less horsepower and run the exact same times....... one benefit that mustang guys enjoy and civic guys don't necessarily enjoy is that the mustang guys have thousands of examples of successful setups..........some of these civic guys are doing things for the very first time in a quest to be faster.......they sometimes have to go try things themselves to see results, instead of asking their buddies |

here is a pic of the interior (looks pretty full and plush to me): http://www.clubsi.com/featured/siins...nterior_tn.jpg |

Not gutted
Nope, doesn't look gutted to me. Just wondering what the HP/wt ratio is for that 13.47/103? I figure it must be about .1 though, or better?.

not bad looking cars, i like the blue one better, they are tastefully done, without the f& f body kit's, i got no prob with them.:D :D
|
See, if you import guys keep your cars clean without too many exterior mods, they look sweet. i personally like the black one, but it is too low. it needs to be raised a hair. the blue one is nice, but those wheels got to go. the black one has to "bright" of an interior, that i didnt like. the blue one had a sleeper look with those stock wheels. whats under the hood of the black one?
I was condisering painting my 99 Cobra wheels black to match my car. still thinking about that though. nice cars. i tend to lean towards Nissans. Honda's are getting lame. |
Not bad...
Personally I wouldn't think call them rice, but I also wouldn't like to own one either. I'm not a big fan of imports (obviously) but they both look like decent cars. The inside is a little bright, but otherwise they look like nice fast cars. Later, Keith

Black Hatchback:
1. I just don't like Honda hatchbacks... never have... 2. Too low... 3. Quote:
I guess it's possible if he used slicks and got an insane 60 foot. Other than that, its hard to believe a non-gutted car with that kind of hp\weight will make those #s The Blue One: 1. Not bad at all and quite respectable. Just not my cup of tea Neither of these would I call rice, but that black hatch is just ugly in my opinion.... |

i've seen no mention of tires........i kinda assumed they were street tires, or DOT drag radials, simply because the car sits so low............ they may be streets, they may be slicks........i don't know........i wouldn't be surprised if they were streets.......remember it only puts down 205, so traction isn't nearly as much of an issue as with higher-powered cars and therefore, slicks are nearly as much of an asset |
Hehe...
I'm sure its just one of those cases where there's a "bit" of information missing.... Quote:
I'm not saying it's impossible, but comon.... something smells like downtown Baltimore when the breeze comes in off the bay.... |
i'm not defending the car.......sure, i think it is a nice looking/performing/unique ride.........but i see better cars each day (sometimes, even hondas)........
why can't someone improve on their skills that much? from the posts of his that i have read (all tonight), he threw in the type r motor before he'd ever been to the track (in anything)........ it has 135 ft-lbs and an 8600 redline............chances are you aren't going to be able to optimize performance on your very first set of passes at the strip........ i've seen it every time i've been to the track, some newbie lets an experienced guy make a pass in his ride and the time drops by a second or more |
Well I guess anything's possible.... but an old guy like me isn't going to look at something like that, see those numbers, and then NOT question it.
I guess its just one of those times where I have to say: "I'll believe it when I see it at the track." As long as I don't have to drive it I could care less... (I still think its ugly... :)) |
well i retract my earlier post- my reply - honduh's = ywan.
