Newbie Questions
Hello All,
Curious if anyone recommends places to pick up hoods, deck lids, wings or spoilers, and/or ground effect kits? Looking for quality as well as inexpensive, if there is such a thing? Thank you. Justin |
Need a little more info, What year of car do you have? What do you want to do with it? Etc.

Ackbar00,
I'm picking up an '89 LX 5.0L this Thursday. Ideally I'll turn this into more of an auto-x car, but that will be next season at the earliest. Right now I would like it as a daily driver while I work on my jeep. I'm doing as much research as possible before I drop the dough on anything. I'm looking at two things to do, the suspension and the body. Suspension I think I have figured out, I just need to determine if I will do that before body, or vice versa. Anyway, body mods I'd like to put the Cobra R SVO hood with scoop, some sort of spoiler or wing, and a ground effects kit including front bumper, rear bumper, and side skirts. I'll then paint it. As it sits right now the car is a bit rough looking and I think the stock body is boring. I'd like to spruce it up a touch. Justin |
cincinati composites is soposed to be really good and have great prices..they have all
|
Cincinnati Composites is a good site, they have the better prices I've seen so far for the rear deck lid. The hood is a little higher, but the scoop is already cut out. That's not always the case from what I've seen so far.
I don't see ground kits from them, though? Justin |

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! Their product is pure SSHIT!! It took me 5 days to bodywork my hood so that it looked OK. And it still fits like ***. DO yourself a favor, and spend a little more money for something nicer. |
Where do you suggest Ackbar00? Cervinis is good, however the scoop is not cut out. I've never worked with fiberglass before, what were the problems you ran into with Cincinnati?
Justin |
Cervinis or Harwood are some of the best out there. Several people I know bought their product, painted it, than put it on the car with no adjustments. The CC stuff is just crapy. Bad Fiberglass work and if you want it to look good you will have to bodywork it. If you have a cut out scoop, dont forget everytime you was you car, or drive in the rain, that water is going to get in your engine bay.
|
Why would water in the engine bay be a bad thing?
Would a scoop that small be benefical for assisting with cooling the engine more? I'll have a fender mounted air intake so the scoop is mainly for the looks. Justin |
With a front mount scoop, the water is heading for you distrubitor. Water on this is a bad thing. Plus it gets in your engine bay making it look bad(I keep mine pretty clean). If you have a cold air kit, you will not see any noticable gain from a scoop. But if you like the look of one, get it. Just make sure you get a nice quality one.
