tunning ?

Hey ive been working on tunning my car and just had a couple questions about the carb what should i set the sight levels at on the carb they are the clear type and everyone says to keep them at half but what would be some advantages and disadvantes to going higher or lower also there are four scres one on each side of the bowl the video i got said to turn them a turn and a half out what would be the advantages to turning them more or less. I have my fuel pressure set at about 6 to 7 and my timing with the vacum line off the dist is about 14 any suggestions would help me alot im taking it to englishtown this fri for its first timmed runs.:p

I've always heard that you set the floats to where the fuel just starts to pour out of the side holes (in your case you can see without removing anything). If you have the level too high, it can flood around corners, hard braking, etc. where the fuel can slosh. If you have it too low, under hard acceleration and/or cornering you can run out of fuel. This is just what i've been taught.

84's correct on the float level setting. It should be set so that the fuel just starts to trickle out of the sight hole with the motor running. In your case, you want to just to be able to see the fuel level at the very bottom of the sight glass. The four screws you have are the four corner idle mixture screws. Normally, with the car idling, turn them all the way in and then back them out 1/2 to 1-1/2 turns to get the idle mixture correct. I'd start at the 1/2 and adjust from there if needed. All should be adjusted the same amount. You won't see any benefit at part or WOT of different adjustments on these since they are just working with the idle circuit.

are you sure with the clear sight glasses that your supposed to set them so low
