TFS stage1 vs. 2031

ok guys, those of you that helped me in my "cam selection" post ( http://forums.mustangworks.com/showt...e&pagenumber=1 ) i need your help again.

i want a streetable cam with good torque and power... i know hard to do but i know it can be done...

in the above thread i decided on a B303. but now with many other replies i have decided not to go that route.

which cam out of the TFS stage1 and the crane 2031 do you think would work better for what i want?

those of you that have either cam please let me know how it performs on the street. and give me ANY info you can on it .

for torque, i do have longtubes/ 3.73 gears with my T5 right now so i have that going for me already.

please give me any info/ opinions you can.

thanks a lot (for info and bearing with me with my long decision),
adam

I would go with the trickflow cam without question, crane cams are junk, and it was a crane cam that destroyed my 352 in my 65 Ford. I would recommend the trickflow cam, I'm running the stage 2 in mine and it does wonderful. 11.74@114

i have the crane 2031 and have no complaints, it has good midrange and lots of topend. no decrease in gas mileage and very steetable. i gained a little over 1.5mph at the track with it

haha, i just dont want to make a mistake in this decision (like everybody). i dont want to regret it so im trying to get ALL the opinions of people who have them.... thanks for your help byt the way.
how can i determine if the TFS cam would work in my motor with 1.7's?

thanks,
adam

Superpromustang 10-16-2002 03:11 PM

what heads are you running?

avbcon12 10-16-2002 03:47 PM

check my sig. they are irn GT-40 heads. not P's they have not been milled to my knowledge. i was told they are 64cc chambers which leads me to believe they havent been....

thanks,
adam

ok, ive decided that the overlap will be too much for me if i go with the TFS cam and 1.7 rockers. so im gong to have to get 1.6 rockers for it if i get it. i want to get new rockers anyhow...

thanks,
adam

that would be your best bet, because the stock pistons with the gt-40 heads can only handle up to a .550 lift cam without having to flycut the pistons, so sounds like you got it together, good luck, and remember, don't do burnouts in reverse, it's very expensive LOL.
