my car makes weird noise when cold from 3K up

ahh what is going on? When the engine is cold, when i take the engine past 3K rpm's, it makes like a rattle noise under the hood. Could it be from steeda pullies or timing adjuster? I had the timing at 14, turned it down to 12, and it still does it. It still has great power though. Once the engine is warm, it won't do it. Any suggestions?

dont know my car is stock, but last winter the oil press gauge would bounce from ok - to 0, once it warmed up it stayed ok, my dealer-j/k -told me to leave it overnight to see what the problem was, it never did it from spring - through now, i only have 1,000 miles left on my warranty, i tried 3 different oil filters. im taking mine back - before the warranty run's out. good luck. :)

Sounds like it may be detonation. But the only problem I have is that detonation usually occurs with a hotter motor, not a cold one:confused: Are you running higher octane or colder plugs with the bumped timing?

It's "Death Rattle" i think... oh well!

Noise

I had the same thing it is piston slap the motors come factory with low tolerance so when the motor is cold the parts shrink and then when you drive it you get a nuts in a coffee can sound ....The motor is bad talk to your dealer there is a bullitin out but they don't admit it to easy for obvious reasons. they told me it can fixed by a timing adjustment.....but I thought it was bull so I fought them on it....

i had the same problem and i put the pin scope to it like you said it only happens when it`s cold and above 3,000 rpms most mechanics i`ve asked at different dealer agree with me the thicker oil does not get pumped to the slack adjusters easilly but when the oil is warm it flows like butta you should not just get in your car and drive away wait until the car comes down from cold idle to around 1000 rpms before taking off thats usually a good amount of time to make sure the car is oiled well and warmed up. and don`t get on it until your in normal operating teperature
