IAB=Idle Air Bypass valve (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

When is the last time you changed your fuel filter? That's what it sounds like to me!

If the problem goes away as the engine warms up, then I agree that it is probably your IAC (Idle Air Control) valve (aka: IAB).

It is about the size of two 35mm film containers, and is mounted to your TB. Remove the 2 wire harness connector, and the 2 bolts (10mm, I believe), and clean it with Brakleen (green can) and some pipe cleaners. After you re-install it, reset your ECM so that it will relearn it's idle settings with a clean IAC.

Take care,
~Chris

ok gonna get a new feul filter tonight...and how do I reset my ECM?(sorry im dumb:( )

PKRWUD 10-23-2002 02:01 PM

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Turn on the headlight switch.

Wait 10 minutes.

Turn off the headlight switch.

Connect the negative battery cable.

The ECM is now reset. You will need to drive it aggressively for 10-15 minutes for it to do a good relearn.

Take care,
~Chris
