front sway bar removal
Will I regret removing my front sway bar on my daily driver? Experiences anyone or opinions appreciated.
|
If it is your daily driver i would leave it on. The performance will not out weigh the loss in ride quality.

Thanks, is your response from experience? I've never had my sway bar removed or even loosened for the track so I have no idea what to expect.
I've been told that unless I'm really working at hard cornering that I won't notice any difference. |
Agree with first response...I would not remove it. The car drives okay, but really nose dives on moderate to hard braking, plus the body roll. There is a compromise! I installed a STEEDA front drag sway bar on mine and it works great. The car has good manners on the street, and if you lauch it hard, it gives more than the factory heavy duty sway bar. Good piece that I am glad I bought...actually, I run there rear sway bar also. You may want to consider STEEDA's front drag sway bar for yours...good luck.

The reason for removing the sway bar is because of a 351W install. The oil pan needed to accomodate the high performance oil pump won't clear. Is there another option?

Unless you're a corner carver get rid of it. You already have a good reason. I have taken mine off of every mustang I own. I love the way the front end pulls under hard exceleration. Just take corners a little slower.
Just my opinion (as well as the 4 other mustang owners in my club) |
Thanks, corner carver I'm not. I guess if it doesn't work out I'll have to research other options.

I pulled mine off at the track and lost one of the end links so I didn't put it back on for a while. My car had a tenancy to follow every rut in the road and made the handling very unpredictable (this could be from the stiff springs and no sway bar to balance them out, you'll probably be okay with stock springs). I didn't like it, heck it didn't improve my 60' times anyways. I guess my springs are too stiff (Eibach sportlines).

Remove it I couldnt even tell it was gone. I only go fast in a straight line anyways. Not to mention it really helped me drop my 60ft down.
I went from a best of 2.15 on drag radials to consistant 2.0's. JMO, |

Thanks to all for your insight regarding removal of my front sway bar. I guess the bottom line is I just need to drive it and decide for myself. Thanks again.
