UNheard of Firing order?!

This is the order on the dist. Going clockwise.
18456273.
Any ideas why? It is in no book. But runs fine.

that's the correct firing order.

USMC302 11-04-2002 10:22 AM

right, I should have said it like this, this is the placement of the terminals

2
6 7
5 3
4 1
8

Is it 180 degrees? from norm?

that was from top to bottom, it didn't come out how I typed it in the box.

sorry I had that all wrong. I just looked it up and this is correct. It fires counterclockwise. 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Here is a more detailed pic.

Mine is exactly 180, thanks.I thought it wouldn't run at 180?

First, that firing order is in every book, you are just reading it backwards. Your rotor turns counterclockwise, so your order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

Second, if it runs fine, it's not 180 degrees off. It doesn't make any difference where you have the #1 post, as long as that is where the rotor points when the #1 piston is at TDC on the compression stroke, and the firing order is correct on the cap.

Don't complicate it. It's really very simple.

Take care,
ÅChris
