'87-'93 4 cyl. springs on a GT?

I'm still going through some suspension upgrades on my '88 GT. I have the new shocks, but I'm still trying to decide on new springs. I found some good 4 cyl. springs. Will these work on a GT? Any ride quality issues? Will this affect suspension geometry?

Thanks to all for any suggestions or help.

the 4 cyl springs are a little softer so the extra weight of the v8 will make it sit a little bit lower but not too much.
88workcar swears by these springs for drag racing. you should not have any problems with them

I have a set of 4 cyl springs on the rear of my stang. They let my rear squat better. Tracktion actually improved for me. :)

You think the traction improved, put the fronts on too. Cory cuts a 1.70 on the cheap eagles 225 / 50 / 16s I cut a 1.58 last time out but I also had slicks and 90/10s. Wassup Conman? gotem on yet?

don't mean to still the thread...

I got the fronts on. The car used to sag bad in the back. It looks good now, a little lower in the front than the back now.

it's getting f***ing cold here, not sure when I'll have time or a warm place to get the rears in. It was below frezzing the other day, no fun working in the driveway at temps like that:(

talk to you later dude:cool:

Conman,

Thanks for the reply (love you avitar!).

Do you know how much the 4 cyl. springs will lower the GT? Will it necessitate the need for c.c. plates, etc. normally required for a lowered car?

Thanks in advance.

4 banger springs are the way to go. with only 4cyl. springs 90/10's and cheapo rear shocks. No sway bar and MAC lower control arms. and an AIR bag my car has pulled 1.49's and 1.50's w/ 4.56 gear 5 speed.. it carries the front wheels 8 inches high 10-12 ft out.. 10.60's with That for suspension!! all this on a 26x10" et drag

I don't know exactly how much it will lower it but I'm guessing no more than 3/4 of an inch.

I'm willing to bet money that they don't lower it more than the BBK 1.5" lowering springs that I have and I don't need caster/camber plates. I think the only time you NEED them is if you drastically lower the car or are turning it into a corner carver.

with the 4 cyl springs you should just be able to get an alignment and be on your way
