auto tranny problem
 

car accelerates fine. Will shift from 1, 2, then drive, and then if i take my foot off of the gas, overdrive, but if i keep my foot touching the gas, it won't go in to overdrive. Also, if i do take my foot off to let it into overdrive, the instant i touch the gas again it shifts back into drive. But what worries me is that it isn't a regular shift, the engine revs right past overdrive until around 3K rpm where drive kicks in. Any suggestions? Maybe a vacuum problem? fresh tranny fluid by the way, just had it flushed.

Do you have an AOD. They arent supposed to shift into overdrive until you let off the throttle. this is by design to keep out of 4th under a heavy load, and great for the drag stip, you can go through the traps in third!

yes but even at highway speeds, the car still doesn't shift into O.D. Not just while flooring it, that's obvious. But the slightest touch of the throttle in OD revs past O.D. and goes right into drive. What's the point of an overdrive if you can't maintain speed in that gear?
