8" vs. 9"

What are the differences visually between an 8" rear end and a 9" rear end? I have a 77 Cobra II that I was told had a 9" rear end swaped in and I want to make sure.

If you can get a 9/16 deep socket on the bottom bolts of the center carrier, then its a 8. You need a wench on the nine. Thats the easiest and most fool proof.

get under an old stang then an 80's stang and take a look. The 9 inch has a removeable center section or "pumpkin". While the 8 inch has an intergrated carrier

The 8.8 is intergrated, not the eight. The eight and nine look very similar. They have the same basic design, the nine is just bigger and stronger.
