New Best 2V NA GT 12.60 @ 107.09

This past weekend I installed a UPR tubular K-member and MAC longtubes on the car. The K-member was good for a 68lb reduction in weight plus much easier access to everything around the motor. The headers added some weight back since they were 8.5lbs heaver than the stock manifolds but well worth it. Last night I headed out the to the track to test out the new set up. Unfortunately my clutch started to give out in first and second gear so the car nosed over pretty bad, apparently it didn't care for the added torque the longtubes gave me.

Only made three passes (two more than I should have) and called it a night before I broke anything. I did however manage a 12.60 @ 107.09 on my second pass with a 1.63 60 foot. Not to bad for the clutch slipping halfway through 1st and most of the way through 2nd. The clutch is a SPEC stage 3 with about 12K miles, 80 passes on it and it's done for. In a few weeks I'll replace the disk with a centerforce and an aluminum flywheel to get better numbers. I expect it to go in the 12.50's with 1.59 60 foots.

The longtubes were a world of difference, pulls much harder through the power band, better low end and mid range torque. Overall the car picked up 1.5 MPH (about .5 from the k-member weight reduction and 1 MPH from the headers) and even lowered my 60 foots but .03-.04 even with it slipping.

Congrats,

Remember though I'm doing 6K RPM launches on most passes. :D I'm pretty harsh on the car. In fact some guy comes up to me last night asking what trans was in the car. He couldn't believe I said stock T-45 and asked me how I get it to shift that like! Said he's never heard a trans make that kind of noise going down the track :D

I dont have the balls to launch my cobra @6000rpms. My 5.0 is my abuse victim, 5000rpm launches on slicks in lots of fun.....it is hard to believe your tranny is holding up to all of that.

What is your goal as far as ET goes,

Short term...for next year 12.5's in pretty much any weather at the FFW events and possibly dip into the 12.4 or 12.3's with cams installed. 10.90's on the spray.

Long term...to go faster. I have no real long term plan because once I got there I would just move the bar up and go faster. When I get to the point where the car breaks too many parts then I'll back off a little and I'll know how fast I can go.

Where you are at now is right about where I want to be with my 5.0 win the track opens back up in march.

Test and tunes are getting boring I think I am gonna start doing some bracket racing. It suits me cause I am good at the tree and run pretty consistant.

Later.

I've been running Mod Motor which is open comp style racing for the last couple of years but also plan on running the local points nights. I did pretty good at the last even going to the semi finals. Brackets are a good way to go in my book.
