Speakers and old amps cd players

I have several questions:

I have heard that speakers wear out is this true?

I have two old Kenwood amps, they work fine but they are 20 years old. Would it be wise to replace them or a waste of money?

My 88 GT has a rough ride and I was thinking about buying an in dash cd player and I was wondering about in dash cd players skipping when the car goes over bumps. Do they skip often? would it be unbearable to listen to cds.

Thanks

1) yes speakers can wear out.

2) I've seen a amps from the early 80's. For the love of all things decent YES buy new amps. New amps are WORLDS ahead of the amps you have now. Sound quality, power, etc on new amps are LIGHT YEARS head of amps from 20 years ago.

3) There are thousands of members here with CD players in their fox bodies. I don't think I've ever seen a post in here about CD players skipped. I've had 2 CD players in my stang a Pioneer DEH-1000(cheap model) and my current JVC digifine. Neither have ever skipped, even on some of Mississippi's ULTRA nice roads:rolleyes:

Thanks for the input. I used to work for Kenwood and back in 83 I was the stereo guru now I am a beginner all over again.

Heh, my uncle has a lot of cool audio stuff from the 70's. Like a tape player with a built in CB, and a thing you stuck into you 8-track slot to tune in FM stations.:)

I remeber the 8Track to FM adapter I also remeber FM converotrs You mount it under the dash and plug it into your am radio and viola FM radio.

I also remeber 8 track to cassette convertors.

Back in 1981 I installed and amfm cassette in to the dash and along side of that I had installed an amfm 8track in the dash. It was a cool custom install back when no one was doing anything for stereos. (1971 Mecury Montego MX)
