Who knows Chihuahua's????

okay....
I bit the bullet;.....I"m getting an 8 week old Chihuahua puppy tomorrow....(the only way i knew how to spell it cuz the book in my lap i have not read yet!)
Wondering how she'll (a girl) [white and cute] will get along w/ my 11 year old Pomeranians I have.....I only get the Poms now about 3 nites a week. (joint custody) They were my training babies! got lonely for the pitter patter of little feet around my house, so I"m gonna have my own Full time Doggie.....
I think Poms and Chwawas(easier 2 spell that way)are alot alike.
I got a book. been on line too long to read it...Caitlin (my daughter) Is SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!! SHE IS A CUTIE...PUPPY BREATH AND ALL! I'll take some pics.....Everyone thinks I'm nuts.. I dont need anymore responsibility or aggravation. I dont agree. I stay aggravated and so,whats one more doggy? Cant wait to post pics....
BTW: I need a 75 gallon (at least)fishtank for my turtles for the winter. If anyone knows of one cheap, PLEASE let me know!!!!!!! Starting to get cold here, and the turtles are getting gimpy outside and not eating......

Here's some info on the Chihuahua......

Two distinct breed types, one with a long coat of soft texture, the other with a short coat. Identical otherwise, both can be whelped in the same litter. Adored for his small size, the Chihuahua is a bright eyed, dainty dog who is perfect for apartment living. Most breeders recommend adopting a Chihuahua puppy between the ages of 4 - 12 months as he will be more mature and agile and not so apt for injury.

My experience with them has been anything but pleasant. Around here, they are pretty much exclusively "owned" by the Mexican nationals that work in the fields. They are furless little rats that never shut up. Provided you don't need much sleep, and your walls are thick, you and your neighbors should be fine.

Might want to get some thick boots, too.

Take care,
~Chris

Well i wasn't gonna be that harsh but they are thick as fleas around my neck of the woods, and like Chris said, They are very very high strung little creatures ... i have a couple of friends that have them ... they nip at my heels and bark incesently anytime i'm near them. They are very territorial and will be loyal to your family but likely bark and nip at everyone else. You do have to be a bit careful around them because they are so small ! I had a buddy that had one and dropped a six pack on it ... not a pretty picture :(

THANKS HELLERAISER FOR THE QUICK INFO! I have not got a chance to read my book yet, gonna take it to work tomorrow...prolly wont have time, but i'll take it...that was good info you gave me. Funny, they have the same problems(or can have) like my Pom's can get. Collapsing Tracheas, bad knees, etc. My poms look like over furry Chwawas. :)

OH...and BTW: Poms are high strung, bark alot, and have alot of the same traits. I've had them for almost 11 years....I think I can deal w/ the yapping. And maybe I think rats are cute. They only bark when someone comes, or leaves. Other than that, they are the best dogs in the world.

Heres a couple of pics...then I'm going to bed. Got all 3 dogs, and Caitlin in the bed, but were gonnna let the puppy sleep in the crate for a while I think at night till we all get a little more used to each other. I'll get better face shots later.
Thanks again for the info....:)
TNT :D
We named her "Racie" cuz shes got a tan 'racing stripe' down her back! :)

FWIW, Racie doesn't look anywhere near as rat-like as the critters I deal with at jobsites.

:)

I have 4 Chihuahuas. Age12, 5, 1, and 6 months. All are great pets. My theory is the 4 of them might equal a bigger dog.:D
