GN goes down
Raced a Grand National at test and tune at our local track Friday nite, the damn things are fast,we have an 1/8th mile track but I treed the guy (.507 to .724) light. I ran a 7.24 to his 7.71.It was a helluva race but we had a good time.I have to give it to him, those V-6's fly!!! I would have to say that IF I ever bought a GM product it would be a GN.
I wish my scanner was up but here are the details My car: RT-.507 ,60ft-1.67 7.24 ET His car -RT .724,60ft 1.91, 7.71 ET. was a damn good race. |
Good job...you treed him and out launched him, but it looks like he has a little more on the top end...would have been interesting to see a full 1/4 on that run.
|
He told me his best run in the 1/4 was 12.50ish so I think I still would have pulled him,but we may go to Gainesville next Wed. and see just for grins,he's a pretty regular racer at the track, just never had the opportunity to run each other before,we'll see soon <g>.

Nice run!
i want one of those thiungs cause barely anyone around here knows what they are and how they perform. well at least none of the ricers do :D |
Got a rematch with tha GH I ran last week or so,we went to Gainesville to see what we would do in the 1/4,we had a great time,First run I smoked the tires and ran a 12.43 to his 12.51 but lost the race,it was cold and I didnt get a good burnout(cheap excuse)...LOL,second and third races I treed him both times and won both races, our best runs were on the last pass,He cut a .618 to my .525 light and I ran a new low for my Stang as did he for his GN,the track was awesome and hooked well.
My new best time:12.11,his new best time 12.40. I hope to see him more often at the track cause it's damn fun to race one of those things. |
What's your car weigh?
Typically GN's weigh in at 3800lbs. depending on options/mods. I calculated power based on 3850lbs. for the GN (fuel/driver) and got: Simple Horsepower Calculations ------------------------------------------------ Using the ET method, I come up with 399 horsepower Of couse this says nothing about torque, which dictates alot in 1/4 mile racing. http://www.dsm.org/tools/calchp.htm |
I havent weighed my car,but it is almost devoid of any excess weight,I would guess around 2900 to 3000 with me in it.
|
Given the weight you provided and plugging that into the HP page I referenced above it produced:
Simple Horsepower Calculations ---------------------------------------------------------- Using the ET method, I come up with 334 horsepower |
Are you sure your 1/8 mile was a 7.24? Thats a low to mid 11 second 1/4 mile run. Something is not adding up, are you braking at the 1000'????
