Modular Shootout Press Release...
Official Press release:
November 22, 2003 Push Rod versus Mod Motor war! The Mod Motor Shootout is proud to announce that Billy Glidden will take on John Mihovetz for the ultimate Push Rod versus Mod Motor match race. The stage is National Trails Raceway in Columbus Ohio at Modular Shootout V on July 26 & 27, 2003. Billy Glidden the world’s most prolific Ford 5.0 racer of all time will take on the most prolific Mod Motor racer John Mihovetz. Billy Glidden has been a rock solid fixture in Ford 5.0 drag racing over many years of research and development. BG has also been one of the few Ford racers to remain competitive in Pro 5.0 racing using Nitrous despite the advancement of turbo/supercharger technology, and has won many NMRA races and championships over the years. John Mihovetz is one of the original pioneers of Modular Racing, and has held the majority of Mod Motor ET/MPH records over his career. In 2001, JR Granatelli took the records away while John was going thru new combo bugs. John persisted thru the problems and regained his records back in 2002 when he debuted his new Ford Cougar body. By numbers alone, it appears that John Mihovetz has a tall order on paper. John has run a best of 7.2@193 mph for 2002 in his new 2002 Cougar Body car. Billy Glidden is well documented not only to run solid and consistent 6.9's, but has the ability to beat quicker drivers with his driving abilities. John feels his race car is capable of high 6.8’s. This could very well be the match-up of 2003. Thanks, Modular Shootout Staff |
