Does anyone know a good gear place in Boston MA

Preferably near Belmont, so I dont have to drive this poor car too far. I thought I put the 3.73's in ok, but just today, the grinding started.

Acceleration is fine, no whining, but when I let off the throttle and cruise/decelerate, this ch-ch-ch-ch grinding sound happens (kinda sounds like a tire rubbing up against a wheelwell) but it's definatley happening in the rear axle. It stops as I apply throttle or stop the car. This cant be good for the gears.

I need a place that can adjust them for me.

I know of a couple places... that will DO them.. I cant say wether they are good or not cause I've never had them work on my gears...

There's a guy in newton, Socci Auto or something like that.. the local ford dealer refered me to him ccause he's all about fords... I was going to have him do mine.. but since the waether up here sucks, I figured I'd wait till spring for the gears... snow is tough enough with the high gearing... I've had him do other stuff for me.. and seemed like a good guy...

theres another place further south... MPE Racing in Taunton, MA.

If you remember FORTE'S performance parts.... they were in waltham and moved to burlington, I called them once, and they recomemded a guy in the burlington area... wich isnt too far either.. call them up.. they are in the bizness they should be able to help you out...

Thanks bro, I love forte's. I go there to waste money almost weekly these days. I'll hit em up on monday

Well, I found the reason why it was grinding. The pinion is so loose that I can reach up and wiggle the flange easily about 1/4 inch of rotation. I can wiggle it back and forth a really itty bit. I honestly think I tightened it better than that. Do pinion nuts back off?

Wzorek's in Westfield, MA is known as a superior rear end shop. You will never go wrong with them!

Well, I went and gave myself a hernia tightening the flange nut. Since it was all together, I had to wing the torque: till there was some resistence. Seems to have done the trick, no more grinding.

I'm gonnahave it examined anyway
