halogen lights

Anybody know anything about halogen lights? I was looking on the internet and found something about Xenon lights, but can't find any specifics. I want the white lights that the new bmw's and lexus's have. I was wondering if you can just buy the bulb or if you have to get a new fixture. Also, what about fog lights...I don't want two different color lights.

Those are good questions, I would like to know the same things....

I looked on the net, and I found some lights called HID lights. I'm not sure what it's all about, but they're pretty expensive. I think that is what they use on high end imports. Anybody else know anything about this?

HID lights are what your looking for, but as you have seen the kit isn't cheap. You can get the same look with Xenon light bulbs. I use the Xenon bulbs in my car, which are brighter than stock, but not as bright as the HID lights, and you can get matching fog light bulbs to go with them. And they cost a lot less!

Thank you...I love how 80 people look at a thread, but only 3 respond. Do you have any info on where I can get just bulbs? Everything I've seen is a kit. Also, I don't want them if they look cheap. I've seen some ricers running around w/ these purplish-blue colored lights. I want those crystal clear BRIGHT lights...are xenon bulbs like that? Thanks again, any help is appreciated.

I just spoke to a friend. I hope I can do him justice. First of all, the xenon bulbs can be found on ebay for about $16. They are much brighter, but may be the purplish color, corresponding to the higher intensity. He found his for $16 and his are white. You get lucky. They burn out faster then normal bulbs as well. He said to be careful with the HID kits. Sometimes, if you have two bulbs, one for high and one for low beams, the HID kit eliminates the high. Be careful. I hope this helps a little. I am pretty sure I understood him correctly about all this stuff. (haha, if anything is off a little, It's my fault, not his!:o )

the hid (high intensity discharge) lights only come in kits. my friend got it installed on his car and from what i can tell, there aren't any bulbs at all. seems to be just one large spark coming from parts attached to the housing. i could be wrong on this one, but that's what we came up with after reading your post. if you want the mercedes, audi, bmw headlight look, you're gonna have to buy that expencive *** kit. otherwise, you can just go with the bulbs that everyone else suggested. either way, keep us posted and let us know how it goes. good luck. :)

you can get xenon lights at miejer actually.....they are brighter than stock, and have a bluish tint.....pretty cool lookin but HID is the ones that are like 400 dollar kits... those are real bright...

Just a quick note on the xenon bulbs. You can get them in a lot of colors, blue, purple, yellow, green, and white. But what you need to pay attention to is the label. Super White are usually blue tint, and the Cool Blue are more the bright white. Green and Purple dont look very good (my opinion) and the blue looks good from the drivers seat. Now with any of the colored ones, in the sun light your headlights will have a color tint to them. Either way you'll happy to get rid of the stock bulbs....

so in your opinion, Cool blue or super white? I don't want much blue tint, more white...so from your description, i would say cool blue
