delete exhaust hanger

hey guys, still doing my T-5 swap..... one thing i don't have is the T-5 exhaust hanger for the h-pipe. I read on an swap faq that I can delete the exhaust hanger but it's not recommended. I'm thinking about deleting it. Why is it not recommended and any thoughts on the subject?????

I would imagine that it would put a little added strain on the flange without it.

Yeah, if you got rid of the exhaust hangers, that would put more stress on the entire exhaust system, which could result in exhaust leaks at the flanges. You're exhaust would probably hang down lower and there is more of a chance that you could bolt up the exhuast somewhat crooked. Why wouldn't you want to keep the hangers?

i have never had mine on, when i buy an h pipe i actually cut the hangers off, they seem to be more of a PIA to me. they are right though you could experiance more leaks with the extra strain on the exhaust system, i personally have not had any problems with it leaking. hope that helps

oh the only reason i wanna delete the hanger is that i am doing a T-5 swap and don't have the T-5 hanger, just the aod hanger. I know i can get one for $35 from 50resto.com but.... man thats another 35 bucks...... man i guess ill get the silly hanger. Thanks guys.

The guys above hit the nail on the head. If it were me, I would put the exhaust hanger thingy on. You might be able to get one from a junk yard? $35 does sound a little steep considering it's just a simple piece of metal with two rubber sleeves.

IMOHO, you dont need it. Didnt use it on my EL shorties & h-pipe, nor on the full lengths & h-pipe.
