cylinder head??'s

i have an 88 GT, that i am workin on as a project car and i have moved onto the motor now. I am wanting to go with either a Cobra or a GT-40 intake, but i have a question about cylinder heads. I am interested in the GT-40 aluminums, but would like to know a bit more about them, and anyone i have talked to cannot tell me anything. Any info is greatly appreciated!!;)

More important than the HEAD is what YOU do with the head. That is a good choice of head. What is the car going to be used for? What are the long term goals? What is the bugget? If it is endless over a long time frame, then good planning is important. Give us something to work with here, We can help better than those old men that sit at the store in the morning drinking coffee that had been there and done that years ago.

thanx for the reply 88workcar

This car is used as a daily driver, but i want to do autocross and road course with it. i dont have an overly large buget at the moment, i just want a motor with a decent amount of power to go along with my suspension mods, and have noticed the price for a pair of these heads fairly reasonable, yet there was no info on the heads themselves. Eventually i want to add a supercharger to the car, but i doubt money will allow for that for at least another year, depending on how things go!!

If bugget is an issue, and you are not trying to lighten the front for dragg racing, check out thisPOWERHEADS.com

yeah with the budget being an issue what i should have said was i just cannot afford top of the line aluminum heads, but i figured with some gt-40s i could in the future even have those reworked to give me some more power, and i would like to bring the weight down which the aluminums will do, because i do want to do autocross and road courses. What sort of gains will i be lookin at with the gt40's, and are there any heads simular to them in the same price range???

I'm gonna have to check the powerheads out, the're right down the street from me !
Before you make your final decision, check out the Roush 200 iron heads at summit ... they're good heads and very reasonable.

i have the gt-40x's with the 58cc and they have been working great for about 2 yrs. i also have the cobra intake so i pretty much have what you are describing. power and driveability are great, i got what i expected out of them. yes there are heads that probably out perform them, but they perform awesome and are 100% reliable, and not to many people have them. if you have any detailed questions, please don't hesitate to ask
