new engine pictures
Well after 2 long years I finally have my new engine done. You can check it out at http://home1.gte.net/garciajv/ and click on the engine pics link. I know the site is not the greatest but haven't had time to redo it.
Let me know what you think and any suggestions or comments are welcome....good or bad :) Also, if anybody knows of a good paint and auto body place in the L.A./orange county area please let me know as I'm looking to have my car painted. have a good one, Rob |
Thats one nice looking motor! How did you go about polishing the ac compressor, p/s, and alt?
|
Great job!
You put some hard work into your motor, and it shows. I really liked how you had the three progress pictures...very cool.
Again, nice job! ;) E |
Very nice! I definitely don't have the patience to do that much detailing work on my motor, if I can't reach it with a wire wheel it doesn't get done;)

That really does look nice man. The polishing looks real nice. I wish i had more on mine to polish now. Might just polish the intake while its off and maybe get soem polished valve covers after seeing that..Then polish the Alt. Braket and alt.

WOW!! ...that looks really nice, bro! :) Love that intake!

Thanks for the comments everyone........HiFlow - polishing the a/c was a pain. I polished it while it was still on the engine (if i had to do it again I would have taken it off) anyways, i bought some cone sanders and polishing wheels from http://www.eastwoodcompany.com that I used with my dremel to get into the tight spots. As for polishing the a/c lines was really simple. I used a steel wire brush attachement for the dremel (can be bought at home depot) and removed the paint. Then I just buffed it out with some chrome polish.
As for the alt. I had that taken apart and I just had the casing which made it very easy to handle. The p/s was the first piece I did and so it took the longest, but it's not that hard to get at. This site is great for learning how to polish. http://www.geocities.com/forced347/polishin1.htm Bradley - I had polished my alt. bracket also but after awhile it started to develop rust for some reason. That's why if you notice on mine I painted it along with the a/c bracket. Plus I realized that it would be hard to maintain. I just thought I'd share my experience. :) I think polished valve covers are very nice. Had I known I was going to do all of this I would have bought those. If anybody has more questions or needs advice let me now. Robert |
that looks good

That looks nice. I just installed a new 8 inch buffer I picked up at Harbor freight and so far, I've managed to get most of what I was doing on me but I hope I can get my stuff looking half as nice as yours does. Nice job.

Hey Medik418,
I know what you mean about the stuff getting all over the place. I ended up having to cover most anything around so as to not make a mess. Just take your time and I'm sure you can get a mirror like shine with no problem. :) take care, Rob |
