Another "How to" question...
Driving a 1989 5.0
BBK shorty headers, accel distributor, new chip, K&N Filter, etc. But regardless of how a fast a car can be ITS ALL THE BETTER WHEN YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET IN THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE! I broke the outer handle to the driver side door and I just bought a new outer handle peace; however, when I took off the inner pannel it seems like the old door handle is being held in place by two washed end screws (the ends of the screw are plain or flat and no phillips of anything can take them out). Question: How do I take the pieces holding in the exisiting door handle out without having to drill? - or do I have no choice? |
You have no choice, DRILL
|
on my 89 vert they were riveted in... my handle on my passenger side broke ... stupid plastic handles... I hope you got METAL replacements... but in anycase, you'll need to drill.. though I got rivets to put mine back on... but I didnt have rivet gun big enough... so I used some simple philips head screws and some nuts with lock washers... alot easier then rivets ... plus you can take them off easier if they DO break again..

If your drilling it out from the outside of the car, be careful. You might want to center punch the the flat headed screw so the drill doesn't walk and scratch your paint.
