Want Supercharger But have 9.8:1 comp. is this trouble?

I have Ross Flat Top pistons and Alum heads. that makes up to.. 9.8:1 compression is that to high for a supercharger to run SAFELY. I was thinking 6-9 psi? range also who makes the best supercharger for the money.. dependable, streetable, and LOW maint. (dont want to punch a hole in my oil pan!) thanx remeber 9.8:1 compression Non O ring Heads

I say, what the hell, go for it! it's simple, air, fuel, compression, combustion, boom, horsepower... right? oh what the hell those supercharger manufacturers wouldn't sell you something that would hurt your motor.

hi, my name is piston #8, and i have a big fat hole in my side that says something different than the idiot above. DONt DO it. friends dont let friends mix high compression and boost.
-----------
yes, the story is true, i blew a hole in piston number 8 running 10 lbs of boost. Of course it had to happen 100 miles away from home. Go figure. i wouldn't do it, but hey, i have an engine hoist if you need to borrow it.

The 96-01 Cobras had 9.85:1 compression and blowers work great on those cars. You'll have to keep your tune conservative and get a timing retard. I think you'd be okay with 8lbs of boost and good gas as long as you run it on the rich side and keep the timing on the mild side, especially without o-ringed head gaskets.

'ditto' on what red stated :) what kind of head gaskets are you currently using, btw?

You'll be fine as the guys stated above. Once you get the blower, make sure you get a fuel pressure gauge, vac/boost gauge and have the car tuned on a dyno with custom chip. This will be good insurance and you should have many miles of happy motoring.

BTW, ProCharger makes a really nice intercooled kit and the head unit is self contained - no oil pan punching here. It's the P-1SC and will be more than enough blower for what you want.
