My T-5 is TRAYASHED- any ideas?
 

My trans has been whining for a while, 2nd and 4th grind almost all the time. The last week it got worse, when I decelerated it made a grinding/whining/chattering noise, so I've been holding in the clutch when I slow down. Today I was going to the mall to finish up my christmas shopping, about 1/2 mile away from the mall my trans totally got worse, it sounded like it was going to blow up in every gear, it grinded and vibrated the whole car, even when it's in nutreul (I re-typed the word nutreul a few times, now i can't tell how to spell it right) , when the cars parked it's quiet when in nutruel with the clutch pushed in, but as soon as you start to let off it started to sound like ****'s breaking. I'm guessing it smoked and probably not worth rebuilding, which is sweet cause now I have 2 cars with broke-*** transmissions.
Anyway, I ended up pushing my car back to my house (about 2-3 miles away) with my dads S-10.

Not that anyone cares, but I figures I'd write about my mess of a car. Feel free to comment on wether to rebuild or get a used T-5 off ebay. A new tremec is out of the question for at least a couple months. Also, I just noticed theres a spot to attach a picture, so I'm attaching a pic for anyone who wants to see my 86 Mustang or my 85 Astrovan w/sbc 355.

Hmmm...what to do with a nice stang with a dead tranny??? Oh I know give it to me! :D Okok it was worth a try. T-5's generally don't cost much to rebuild and with the right tools and a book can be done at home if you want to go even cheaper.

I was thinking it would be nice to rebuild it, it would be like having a new trans. I'm just worried everythings messed up inside like the gears and whatnot. It sounded like everything was broken even when the car wasn't moving.

Incase anyone was wondering, thats me in the first set of pics of the van holding the Carb. The other guy is Ethan, he helped keep things straight while they were going in. I'll probably get my van running first, I have a 350 trans sitting in my garage for it, although I don't know whats gonna need to be changed yet (the trans in it now is a 700r4 - 4 speed). I know it's a chevy, but it's prety bayad, plus it'll be better for the winter.

A rebuild could be sort of expensive if you're going to have a shop do the work. Otherwise, if your handy and have some time, get the T5 rebuild kit and video from Hanlon.

E
