Any info please what do they change with different ratios?
What ratios are recomended its a stock 86 w t5 and 3.73s.

different rocker ratios affect the net lift of your cam... multiply the lift of your cam, at the lobe, by the rocker ratio and that gives you the net lift, at the retainer, of the cam.

I don't have any recommendations on rocker ratio for your application...

I recommend you use the search feature of this site to get some info from past threads... ;)

I believe the 86's still had the flat top pistons, and in this case, you won't want 1.7 rockers. The lift will probably be too much, and you could run into piston-to-valve clearance issues.

The stock ratio is 1.6:1, a common upgrade is a set of 1.7:1 rockers.

If you have a cam in which you know the total lift at the valve, say a B303 which is 0.480" lift. This is the lift with the stock ratio. If you want to know the lift with another ratio, say 1.7, then just multiply by the new ratio, and divide by the old ratio. This would be: 0.480 * 1.7/1.6 = 0.510

As you can see, you can add a decent amount of lift to an otherwise mild cam with just a small change in the rocker ratio.

For your 86, I would reccomend finding a used set of E7 heads and do some mild porting (or buy some already done, from me:) ) Then put some 1.6 roller rockers on them.

good luck, and merry christmas
