Truck Intake
I have an intake in my garage off of an F-150 that had a 302 efi. Is this intake the same as the intake in the stang? If not, will it fit and work? I want to have it ported and maybe polish the outside to clean up the engine bay a little, and was wondering if it will fit. Would it make a difference, and be worth the effort, to port it to match my throttle body, or is this a waste of time? Thanks.

Are you talking about the lower?
|
Upper and lower.
|
The upper is different, i'd have to check the lower.
|
Are they different to the point that they will not work on the stang? If they will work, do they flow better or about the same? Thanks Chris for the info.

The lower is very similar to the Holley systemax lower and I believe will bolt up to a 5.0 and outflows the stock lower by a mile. They are on E-bay all of the time.
Some people run the truck lower with a ported stock upper. Ive heard. Later. |
I know the upper is different, but will it work? I have one and would like to port it out while it is not on my car so as not to loose any drive time.
Dark_5.0 Thanks for the info on the lower. Caymon |
The truck intake is designed more for low end torque. My Bronco stops pulling at around 4000, but that could be due to the torquey cam and 150k miles. The truck intake is also a LOT taller than the Mustang intake, so it won't fit under the hood.

The upper intake is the tall one. I'm not sure if the lower is taller or not, but if it is, probably not by much.

no they dont bolt up you can use the lower and get a bennet or cartech upper for it and it will outflow just about anything.
i have a veriety of them in the basement i cut the 302 upper to make a box intake for my 351 lowers which i have to port for days |

sorry
there all still here for a reason i"m going to drop a 347 into a miata and use the 302 truck lower with a box upper.
you can cut the upper to make your own box intake ill try and post some pics |
My friend swears he is using the stock upper:confused: .......So I dunno maybe it isnt to hard to make it work.
|
My plans are to buy a cowl hood, so let me ask you this: If I get a cowl hood to allow for the extra height, will the truck upper intake work, or is it just a lost cause to try? I'm just trying to make more power for less money. Thanks.

I dont see why it wouldnt, but remember the longer the runners the less rpms you are gonna turn.
I would go witht he comp polymers box style upper. You can get one for 120 of off ebay. |
OK man, I tried to find a "comp polymers box style upper" on ebay and couldn't find jack. I tried comp, comp polymers, intake, basically everything I could think of, but couldn't find it. Are there stores on ebay that have these at these prices, or do you have to find them from individuals?

The last thing you are going to want is a box upper on a fairly stock motor.....What i would do is Port the everlivin' ***** out of the truck intake and bolt it on you will have to relocate the battery because your intake will com out on the drivers side though. The truck intake has the capability of flowing more air but it is not a striaght drop in proposition.
