OIL IN THE INTAKE
 
Is it normal to have a pool of engine oil collecting inside of the an edlebrock performer phlenum or any 302 phlenum.

Did you remove the baffle from your valve cover? I'm not sure but maybe it could be the PCV valve plugged up.

That is not normal.

Check your pcv valve

and maybe your valve covers.

Well every intake will suck a little oil into the TB, you don't see it as much on a stocker because of where the PCV hook up is. I know on my Holley it is just a way of life, the trick is to run the PCV line to the airbox and that will clear it up and the oil will neve reach to the air box, that came from my friend who owns his own Performance shop, this is what he is doing to all his customer who run Holley intakes. I was running a gas filter inline on the PCV to catch the oil so it wouldn't drip out the TB. I have all my screens and baffles in but on my car it is due to the design of the Holley intake and location of the vacuum tree which the PCV hooks to.

ok, i dont know why you replied to this topic after i replied to the duplicate, but i will copy my post and post it here as well.
rick has the answer though.
actually, im told it is (edelbrock intakes that is) after i had the same problem.
i was told to create more vaccuum off of the pcv valve where it is coming from. (the oil is coming from). that and breather caps should help.
if you find my old post about the same topic under the search feature, you will see the advice that was given to me.
sorry, i havent done it yet due to crappy weather and a lack of funds/time.
will be doing it when i get my harwood hood in about a week.

I had this problem in the past on a lincoln Mark V11, 5.0 HO (same engine) and simply cleaned the PCV and REPLACED THE SCREEN UNDERNEATH IT. This part can be had from your friendly ford dealer for like $1.50, and it should solve your problem, without resorting to unnecasary rerouting of things.

ahhhhh, back to the old name,,, and ways,, i see mach 1! lol
obviously his approach would be the cheapest and easiest method,,,,but he sometimes forgets that not all set-ups are the same!
if you try the screen change and it does not work, than try what rick and i have recomended.
one of the two should get you going!
thank the air flow gods for edelbrocks removable cover! lol

Well I replaced both of those when I put the motor back in 3 weeks ago, and that didn't help at all. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif

I have been running the filter in the PCV line but I just got the tubing to re-route to the air box today so I will do it tonoght and let you know how it is after a couple days. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif
