How do I remove the A/C and power steering.

I now have my 90LX near completion and I have removed both the A/c and the power steering.

Problem is now there is no pulley on the drivers side of the engine to run the belt to.

Does someone sell a bracket and pulley for people that have removed both the A/C and power steering.

Or does someone make a water pump that rotates clockwise.

Thanks,

there is a kit that has a pullery you can put where your ac was or you can just reverse your tensioner. here a good place that casn help you with that

I'm in the process of removing my A/C and would like to get rid of my powersterring pump too. Can you run a powersterring rack without the pump? Can I just plug up the lines, or will it mess the rack up? I'm assuming there will need to be some fluid in there for lube purposes...

If you dont drain the rack completely it will be more difficult to turn than if it was drained...my friend experienced this. You can remove the p/s and a/c get a shorter belt and an 83 thunderbird water pump(forward rotation)V8. This will allow you to run the factory tensioner without any modification.

So I just ask for an 83 T-bird alternater. Were they 5.0's or what?

83 T-bird water pump

get one from a 5.0/302 powered bird.

Here is OReilly part#b58-225. The reason you are changing water pump is B/c your belt will just circle the remaining 3 pulleys with the tensioner pushing down on the belt just like stock(changes how the water pump pulley rotates...

better have an electric fan, stock fan will do nothing for the car spinning backwards

saltzstang 01-07-2003 10:44 AM

bowties right this setup definatly requires elec fan......sorry I assume that everyone already has change that from the get go....well we all know what assume means.

Huh? So do I drain it completely? 50%? or make sure it's filled up? Will it mess up the rack if there is not fliud flowing though it like the pump makes it?

saltzstang 01-07-2003 10:56 AM

notice the grooved asp pulley....cyberstang, my friend only drove his car down the track and to local drag.......he sold the car before the rack craped out.....and it has to be completely drained. If your driving your car all the time go with the flaming river and universal joint.belt

saltzstang 01-07-2003 11:02 AM

sorry wrong picbelt2

Dark_5.0 01-07-2003 11:30 AM

I could just use a forward rotation flex fan.....Right????

saltzstang 01-07-2003 12:04 PM

yeah...but for the money why not buy elec fan?

Pulleys

a cheap way to change to a standard rotation w/p and get a grooved w/p pulley is to get the pulleys (crank and w/p) and even the water pump from a mid '80s Lincoln 5.0. I did this to convert my 351C to serpentine belts for $10. My pulleys cam from an '86 Town Car. One note is that there are 2 belts driven off the crank, so you can't use an underdrive crank pulley anymore. just use the front groove to run the w/p and alt and ignore the rear groove. You do, however, endup overdriving the w/p and alt a little bit, good for most street driving, bad at high RPMs at the strip. You may have to shim out the alt a little bit too, so things line up.

You dont remember off the top of your head how long the belt you need is do you??

87BOSS351C 01-07-2003 04:04 PM

I don't remember exactly off the top of my head but it was like 42 3/4" long. I'll be at the shop tonight so I'll check. However, you may need a different length since you have a belt tensioner and a 302. My 351C still uses the old v-belt style belt tightening technique with the alt.
