What should I buy?
I'm thinking of buying one of these fairly soon. I just don't know which one. Any thoughts on it?
|
Could one of the moderators change that to read 402 at the wheels? Thanks in advance.
Later. |
If you have the means to buy any of them, I would go with the 2003 Cobra - Hands down.
Then, I'd do a pulley swap, complete exhaust, sticky tires, aftermarket shifter and go have some real F, U, double N fun! E |
I'd have to agree with 302 Lx Eric, go with the Cobra. But also dont forget its all about personal preference, you gotta buy what you want. I sure wouldnt buy something just because everyone said i should, id buy something that i really wanted it, esspecially when it comes to a car.

the cobra is a beautiful car....so is the mach 1 though....
i wont vote cuz its all about what you like best...im sure as hell not gunna be pulling off the lot with either...lol... |
Hmmm. That's a question that I'm also having a hard time with. For me it would come down to the Mach 1, or the Cobra. If the Mach 1 preformed like the Cobra I'd go with it in a heartbeat, but since it doesn't I guess I'd go with the Cobra.

OK ok ok.... I am looking at this list, and your scope is quite wide here. You have a $17k car up to a $40k....
My pat answer would be the Cobra, but I can see benefits of the Mach1 and GT listed here: The Mach 1 is quite slick looking with the neat hood, is a revival of an old line (so it could be quite collectable in the future), and performs better than a stock GT (if I understand correctly). It is also 10K less than a Cobra. I don't know how much cost plays into your equasion. Also, I don't know if the Mach1 will have as high an insurance penalty as the Cobra (for High performace vehicles) The GT is much older, but at the same time, you may feel more "at ease" doing mods and such on it. If you want to tinker on your own or make a lot of mods without worrying about the warranty, this could be a good car to get to play with. Insurance, cost, and performance play here again vs the Cobra, though you are now saving over half the cost of the car. Don't know anything about the Q400. On a personal note, I had test-driven a 99 GT convertible and it was nice, but it really didn't grab me as the right car for me. However, when I took the 96 Cobra Converitble out, I just knew that car was for me! In fact, The Toy is my main car now. BTW, my test initial drive top speed was 35 MPH, yet I could tell. Time to sum up. My final recommendation is to test drive them all! Get a good feel for how they perform. Then, it comes down to the cost to performance ratio, i.e. how much more is that extra perfomance worth to you? |
I'm going to be different here and say the Q400. With 400 RWHP, it will sure be able to keep up or beat a 03 Cobra. The car looks pretty nice, I think Steeda did a good job on competing with the Cobra.
|
I would buy the Q400 over the 03' Cobra.......For the simple fact that it is hella fast and more than likely you will have the only one around.
|
I agree. I've liked the Q400 since day one.
|
Who makes the Q400? I would like to see one.
Caymon |
its that yellow steeda thats in all the new mustang mags....you can check it out at steeda's homepage...

Actually the Q400 seems the unlikeliest (sp?) of them all, get it :D
|
isnt it worth about the same as a saleen tho?
|
the q400 is outta my leauge & the 03 cobra too, i like the mach 1, but that's jmo, 330 hp aint bad.:D :D :D
|
HELL! if we're dreamin, i'd get an 10th aniversary Cobra same as the 03 powerwise but special badging, wheels, interior an only 2003 produced..very
|
Either the Mach 1 or the 03 Cobra
Now if the Mach 1 had a blower.........Mach 1 all the way!!! |
i read a artical comparing the q400 to the cobra
the q400 is way over priced....and no..it cant keep up with a 03 cobra...id spend less cash on the mach 1 and supercharge it |
