Exhaust gurus please check here
My so called friend did my exhaust (the same one that didnt do any body work before painting.) and was supposed to run 2.5 pipes all the way to the rear of the car. I never really questioned the size of the pipes (or really looked for that matter) till today, after another friend said that they looked small. I measured the tailpipes and they are 2.25 not 2.5. Is there any advantage to running a 2.5 tailpipe as opposed to 2.25 tails with the rest of the erxhuast at 2.5?
I havent checked the rest of the exhaust yet because I didnt have time to get under the car, but from the pics that I took, I think that the rest of the exhaust is 2.5". I also need to know if a 2.5 tailpipe will fit over the outside of the muffler exit, or will I have to get a shop to expand the pipe some? |

First off, I have to say that your signature is kind of overkill IMHO. Leave all that stuff for your users ride index.
Don't worry too much about the pipes. You can always have someone cut them off after the mufflers and re-do them later with larger diameter. I don't think it will make much difference. |
I dont think my sig is all that long....c'mon.
Well it was, I kept forgetting to change it on this site, probably cause I dont visit it as much as Stangnet and Corral. I want to make sure that the 2.225 tails arent creating unnecessary backpressure in my system. Especially since I am getting ready to replace the stock heads with ported and polished Edelbrock RPM's. |

I doubt that the 1/4" smaller pipes would create a bottle neck in your exhaust system. The difference, if any...would be minimal.
