? about infamous t/o bearing chirping..
 

I need some help. I have a nice chirp coming from under my car, think it's the t/o bearing or bent 'something' in the clutch(forks?). I had t/o bearing replaced twice in the last 5 years (& complete Motorsport clutch 3 years ago)& this noise has come back quickly both times. What causes this? If I barely touch my clutch pedal the noise goes away, but if I'm at idle or driving down the road I can hear it chirping pretty constantly.
How can I fix this once & for all?
I am planning on getting a few runs in at the track this Sunday...should I be leary of breaking something?
Any advice would be VERY appreciated!

i have the same problem after i did my tremec swap in my 95, i cant figure it out. i tried tightening up the clutch cable a little bit but that doesnt help. 2 buddies of mine that did the same tremec swap have the same darn problem. if i just rest my foot on the pedal the noise goes away. i dont get it

I have the exact same problem with my tranny. It first started on my old T5 with around 85000 miles on it. I replaced it myself and then put in a super duty T5. The problem cambe back soon after. It also goes away when I very very slightly push in the clutch. Now I have 150000 miles and its at the point where I know the bearing will come apart soon (sounds like a banshee under your car). I read somewhere once that its caused by a misalignment in the shaft. I think it was between the back of the motor and the bell housing. I don't know about you guys but I think I'll just plop in another T/O bearing from Autozone and live with it for another 60000. Maybe tightening the cable from the get go (just a touch) will prevent subsequent wear from occuring to where it makes no difference anymore.

Guys I have been asking this same question for six months, I have talked to reps from about every clutch manufacturer and I have yet to get a good fix answer from anyone. The most common answer is, new bearing, new clutch fork and new adjustable cable. The thing is I have either done or personally know others that have done all these things. The only thing that seems to work short term is a new t/0 bearing. When that sound comes back....man does it boil your blood!

mine starts doing it again after about 200 miles, after i put a new throw out bearing in.

to answer your ? i dont think you have anything to worry about as far as breaking anything, its just more of an annoyance than anything
