351 Flywheel
ok this is causing me problems
we have finished my friends motor we were about to bolt on the flywheel and clutch and pressure plate when i decide to count teeth the flywheel has 164 teeth correct for a 351 but since its going to bolt up to a t-5 I've always used a sfi 28 oz 157 tooth with the same patern for 302 p plate. well he says no problem he has to buy a starter any way as his was acting up so he'll just buy a 351 starter. well that seams fine but now in wondering about his clutch and p plate, he must of got it all for a 351 ( he bought all that 3 months ago by himself.)Its all mCleod stuff I'm wondering about any other problems and since i never though about it are the bolt patern on the flywheel the same for 302 and 351 presure plates ??? I' almost want to pull mine and check but am way to lazzy . I tried to look this up but all i found was to use the 28 oz 157 tooth 302 style p plate. but it seams there realy isnt a diffrence except the started gear or am i wrong ?" |
If he is going to ue the stock T-5 bellhousing he needs to by the 157 tooth 28oz flywheel the 164 tooth flywheel is for an 11 inch clutch ond will not clear the factory bell nor allow a 10.5 inch clutch assembly. And he needs to run the late model 302 starter.
